The Movie Cars Were Not All Real Vanquishes
Interestingly, not every car used in the movie was a genuine Vanquish underneath.
For the glacier chase scenes, filmmakers reportedly used custom four wheel drive stunt cars built with Vanquish body shells mounted over Ford Explorer V8 drivetrains. Those setups handled the snow and ice conditions far better during filming.
However, the production still used real Aston Martin Vanquish models as hero cars for close up scenes and promotional work.
One of those original movie related cars appeared for sale in 2024 with an asking price of around $129,000.
The Aston Martin Vanquish Legacy Still Continues
The modern Aston Martin Vanquish still carries the V12 spirit forward, and Aston Martin now also offers it in Volante convertible form.
Even after all these years, the original Vanquish remains one of the most recognizable Aston Martins ever made. Part of that comes from the Bond connection. The other part comes from the car itself. Long hood, V12 power, timeless design, and just enough drama to feel special every time it appeared on screen.
And somewhere in Malibu, two small plaques are all that remain of Pierce Brosnan’s personal Bond car.
