Genesis GV90 Confirmed With Coach Doors Ahead of August Reveal

Genesis has officially confirmed that the upcoming GV90 luxury SUV will feature coach doors, a design element first seen on the 2024 Neolun concept. It is a rare move in today’s automotive industry and could help the GV90 stand apart from rivals like the Lucid Gravity and Mercedes Benz GLS.

Genesis GV90 Coach Doors Officially Confirmed
Genesis Europe Managing Director Peter Kronschnabl confirmed in an interview with British publication CAR that the production GV90 will indeed receive coach doors.
When Genesis unveiled the Neolun Concept ahead of the 2024 New York Auto Show, many believed the unusual doors were simply a concept car feature that would never reach production. That assumption has now proved wrong.
Coach doors are rear hinged rear doors that open in the opposite direction of the front doors. The design was common during the 1930s but has become extremely rare in modern vehicles.
According to Kronschnabl, very few manufacturers still use this design.
“The only other brand with coach doors is Rolls Royce.”
That alone makes the GV90 one of the most distinctive luxury SUVs expected to arrive this year.
What Are Coach Doors?
Coach doors are different from conventional SUV doors because the rear doors are hinged at the back instead of the front.
